2017 Pinot Noir

Yates Conwill Vineyard

We’ve been making Pinot Noir off the Yates Conwill Vineyard for several years. It sits on the same hillside – right across a fence – from the famed Resonance Vineyard and is managed by the same folks. The owners are Steve and Kathy Conwill, who are as nice a couple as you are likely to meet.

Steve bought and planted the site because he loved the Pinots we made off Resonnce. He wanted to grow Pinot Noir that was just as good. Year by year the Yates Conwill Pinot Noir approaches the Resonance in quality. The 2017 makes another big step in that direction. With the sale of Resonance to some French carpetbaggers (which means Kevin Chambers will no longer be managing it), watch as the Yates Conwill Vineyard surpasses its inspiration.

We figured this vineyard would do good things, noting its location and management. Imagine our surprise and delight to have the first wine, the 2007, off this vineyard be so good and then to follow it with a beautiful 2008, then a beautiful 2009, then a gorgeous 2010, then the 2011, followed by the highly intense 2012, a gorgeous 2013, spectacular 2014, 2015, 2016… and now this!

Mind you, strict selection went into the barrels chosen for the 2017 Yates Conwill Pinot. 2017 was a beautiful vintage and we picked the best for this wine.

2019, 2020, and 2021 Pinot Noirs Yates Conwill also available.
