2023 Pinot Gris

The 2023 Pinot Gris is another in a long string of remarkable vintages.

The Wy'east Vineyard, owned by our very good friends Dick and Christie Reed, is situated on a slope not far from Mt. Hood (Wy'east is a Native American name for Mt. Hood) at 1600 feet of elevation.  Recently we discovered that the soils of the vineyard are unlike any in the state - yet another data point indicating the uniqueness of this place.

Warm, dry days and cool nights serve to ripen the fruit with great natural acidity.  Ripeness with acidity is the holy grail for winemakers and Wy'east brings it again and again.

In addition to good natural acidity and appealing aromatics of pear and melon, the Pinot Gris has a wonderful spicy quality and great "mouthfeel".  The finish is remarkably persistent - the aftertaste lingers and lingers.

Give it a try with sushi.  The 2023 Pinot Gris marries very well with it (and just about all other quality seafood).
